There are two major kinds of roulette bets on the roulette table; inside bets and outside bets. The most significant difference between the inside and outside bets is the issue of table minimums. If you want to bet on two numbers at the same time, you can do it in two different ways. If you want to bet on four numbers at a time, you can bet on a corner which intersects all four of them. This is known as a 'corner' bet, and pays at 8 to 1, which means that the roulette odds are again dropped to be better for the casino. (8 X 4 = 32)

The worst bet of all is the 'five number' bet. You can bet on 00, 0, 1, 2, and 3 at the same time. The payoff is 6 to 1, meaning it gives you the worst payout rate of all the roulette bets. (6 X 5 = 30)
